Can I use an old card for Spotify Family, Duo or Student? +
No. Spotify's Card Terms exclude discounted and group subscriptions. Its help page also specifically excludes Duo and Basic plans.
Will a dollar-value card always cover 12 months? +
No. Under the US Card Terms, a cash-value card buys months at the applicable monthly rate. A subscription card denominated in months credits the printed term instead. Check the card type before assuming it covers a full year.
Why might Spotify reject a gift card I already have? +
Check the account-country match, the characters entered and retail activation, where applicable. Add-ons can also block redemption. Follow Spotify's troubleshooting checks before retrying.
When does redeemed gift-card time start? +
Spotify says it starts immediately for a Free account, or on the next payment date for an existing eligible Premium subscription. See the gift-card timing rules.
What happens when the gift-card time runs out? +
Payments can resume if a payment method is set up; otherwise, the account returns to Free. Check Spotify's gift-card terms rather than assuming the card cancels future billing.
