Gateway credit lets you try supported Claude and Codex model routes without first purchasing a separate Claude or ChatGPT subscription.
You receive a Base URL, API key, dashboard address and setup instructions after purchase. Your personal OpenAI or Anthropic login is not required for gateway billing.
Your existing subscription allowance is not enough
A gateway can work as additional pay-as-you-go capacity when you already use Claude Code or Codex through a subscription but need more usage.
Gateway usage is billed separately. It does not increase your Claude, ChatGPT or official API account balance.
Why prepaid credit is different from another subscription
There is no recurring monthly charge. Your balance is reduced only when you send requests through a supported route, and whatever remains stays available until you use it.

No. Gateway requests use the delivered Base URL and API key instead of billing through a personal Claude or ChatGPT subscription.
